DISTRITO DE ALFREDO GUEDES

Lençóis Paulista has only one district, that of Alfredo Guedes, created by Decree No. 6,753, of October 6, 1934, with headquarters in the town of the same name and lands separated from the district headquarters of Lençóis Paulista.

The town of Areia Branca, which gave rise to the district, developed around the railway station opened by Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana on September 7, 1898.

In 1918, the original name, Areia Branca, taken from a stream in the region, was changed to the current one, in honor of Alfredo Guedes de Sousa, lawyer and politician, who was the State Secretary of Agriculture at the end of the 19th century.

The district, created in 1934, is located approximately seven kilometers east of the Marechal Rondon road and has around a thousand inhabitants.

With its rural landscapes and serene atmosphere, Alfredo Guedes is a place where past and present harmoniously intertwine.
