Design in Crafts

The UNISAGRADO University Center and the Lençóis Paulista Tourism Department, through a partnership, since the first half of 2021, have provided artisans with the opportunity to participate in Extension Projects. The first edition of the project took place remotely due to the pandemic. In the second and third edition, the Department of Tourism provided transportation to artisans to participate in face-to-face meetings with students at UNISAGRADO. SETUR, in addition to monitoring the progress of the project, also gave a lecture to students in each edition, covering aspects of the city's history, its tourist attractions, cultural identity and crafts. The initiative has generated benefits for everyone involved and has also promoted the exchange of experiences and rapprochement between universities, public authorities and the community. The contact between artisans and students can be highlighted, favoring the exchange of experiences and professional growth for both. The university was able to provide students with the study of real businesses, given the difficulties encountered by each of the artisans, and the students also had the opportunity to present appropriate solutions that had a positive impact on the ventures. The artisans received innovative proposals for application in their businesses aligned with the municipality’s identity. The Department of Tourism, through this partnership, was able to strengthen its relationship with the university, offer development opportunities to artisans, stimulate innovation, and disseminate local culture and attractions. These actions also contribute to the development of local tourist potential.
